Description

Tim Bernard REATE RASCAL M390 Green Micarta (Made by REATE)

Tim Bernard is a young knifemaker from the Hautes-Alpes département, the highest mountainous département in France.

At the end of his training in 2015, he created the Névé brand during a competition organised by the National Institute of Handicrafts. He draws inspiration from his surroundings. His knives are characterised by their fluid and lively form, reminiscent of the alpine rivers of his homeland.

“The reason for this choice is simple, water in all its forms has always been my playground. I have been flying kayaks since my youth and I have also been kayaking at a high level (5 years member of the French team).”

Confortable in hand and well manufactured knife. My first tanto and my first knife made by Reate. Beautiful sleek design without unnecessary design gimmicks : no visible pivot screw, no blade holes, no thumbstuds, no visible flipper, 2 edges but one grind… Cherry on the cake, it’s not so expensive considering the manufacturing quality and the materials.
It’s quite big compared to my usual knife’s form factor, but what a blade. “Hydraulic” smooth action when closing, quite easy to open. I really appreciate it.
