Important Information for Our U.S. Customers – About Tariffs on Steel and Aluminum Products
Dear customers,
We would like to inform you about an important issue that affects all U.S. buyers of products made from steel or aluminum — including the knives we sell and / or manufacture in Germany.
Why Are There Extra Charges?
The U.S. government has imposed additional import tariffs on many products made from steel and aluminum coming from the European Union, including Germany. These tariffs were introduced in 2025 under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act, as part of a broader policy to protect U.S. national security and domestic industries.
As a result:
- U.S. customs authorities apply extra import duties of 50% on steel products and on aluminum products.
- These tariffs are not imposed by us as the seller, but rather by the U.S. government during import.
- Unfortunately, these charges are added on top of product prices and must be paid by the customer or importer (in this case, you as the buyer).
What Does This Mean for You?
If you’re ordering from the U.S., the final cost may include:
- Our product price (including VAT exemption for export)
- Shipping costs
- Import tariffs charged by U.S. customs
- Possible customs processing fees
These additional charges can significantly increase the total cost of the product once it enters the U.S. — and understandably, this may lead to confusion or frustration. However, we want to make it very clear: we do not profit from these tariffs, and we do everything we can to keep our pricing fair and transparent.
