The Smilodon not only impresses with its high-quality materials such as the 14C28N steel or the ergonomic G10 handle, but also with its extraordinary appearance. The blade has a recess that reflects the slim design of the knife and the handle is adorned with a red liner. In contrast to many other folders, it has the technical advantage of having a frame lock to prevent the locking mechanism from being overloaded.

Was unsure whether to give this one 5 stars or not, but I feel 4 stars isn’t correct either. More like 4.6?
Pros
– Big boy, solid knife
– Good action and no blade play in any direction. Well balanced
– The blade is just gorgeous. There’s lots going on here in terms of lines, textures and grinds. Easily the highlight of this knife
– Three different colors of G10 on this one, they didn’t hold back letting the designer make this thing look pretty. And its very pretty in person, believe me. Props for going above and beyond
– I love the clip construction method, looks cool AF. Really nice and something different!
Negative
– The actual pocket clip itself feels rushed. Sharp edges, bad grind and some of the black coating was scuffed off. I ended up removing the coating, rounding off the edges and polishing the clip to a nice high gloss
– The liners were a bit messy. Also went ahead and polished the liner edges to a mirror finish like the XL Sheepdog has.
– The worst thing by is far the late lockup. Not terrible, but not acceptable either as far as I’m concerned. Shouldn’t be 40% on a brand new knife. 20% max
Overall very recommendable for the price, especially if you aren’t as nit-picky as I am. I´m sure that anyone buying this knife will be extremely happy with their purchase. All things considered I certainly am. Now I just need to resist the temptation of getting the frame lock version lol…I probably will lol
